What Is Shade Grown Coffee?

The trees protect the coffee plants from rain and sun, help maintain soil quality, reduce the need for weeding and aid in pest control. They provide shade and mulch that create the rich climate in which coffee naturally thrives. Migratory birds find refuge in the canopy and help control insect population. In this balanced eco-system the plants grow hearty and strong without need for harmful chemicals.
